The drilling campaign in the Santos Basin, as well as searching for oil and gas shows and delimiting the accumulations, also helps the OGX team in the definition of geological models for the region. One of the wells already drilled, OGX-30, had gas shows and also a large structured region, used to create delimitation models.
At the Maceió accumulation, in well OGX-47, the green light was given for delimitation and production planning. Drill-stem tests performed in this well and in well OGX-11 (Natal accumulation), by OGX, indicated the presence of gas and condensate in the region.
In February 2012, OGX announced the existence of pre-salt reservoirs in the shallow waters of this basin. Appraisal wells will be drilled in order to better assess the volumes in the area, which could potentially exceed OGX’s current estimates of 1.8 billion boe.
